WELCOME
TO THE
TEMPLE BETH ZION
ONLINE ART SHOW
2020-2021
We are delighted to offer you our first TBZ online art show. We wanted to create this new forum where the many artists and artisans at TBZ can exhibit their artistic talents to our exceptional community. Some of our exhibitors are professional artists who have devoted a lifetime to their craft; others find time to pursue their artistic passions between work and family obligations; and for some of our artists, they need to wait until they come home from elementary or high school. For all of them, the key ingredient is making the time to present their unique visions of how they see the world.
Please take time to read about each artist and their art works. Discover how they found their way into making art, why particular subjects or materials or techniques captivated them, how they have carved out time in their lives to pursue their work and why they are so passionate about using art to make a statement.
As a final thought, the process of creating art is hard work-pure and simple. There are no shortcuts. Learning one's craft requires the slow accumulation of micro-skills and insights. As you view this show, appreciate the commitment and determination each artist brings to their creative process to 'birth' their work.
The renowned American (Lithuanian-born) sculptor, Jacques Lipchitz, spoke about this when he said:
I do not come to my studio and wait for inspiration, for angels to speak
to me and tell me what to do. Every day I begin to work immediately,
real and important work, work that involves things and learning and
teaching other people. lf the result is successful it is not through any
accident but through the experience of a long life of thought, experiment,
and continual hard work.
Some of the artwork in our show is for sale. If you are interested in purchasing a piece of art, please contact the artist directly to do that. Enjoy the show!
